     My  brother and sister-in -law from Columbus, Mississippi came for a visit and we went to Key West on the boat shuttle out of Fort Myers Beach. (See photos above) We spent the night in Key West and came back the next day.  If you visit South Florida, Key West is worth the trip.  There is a Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, Mel Fisher's Museum,( the man who found the treasure ship off the coast of Florida) and of course the Southern Most Point in the United States.  See Photos below. Now it is time to get back to work.  It is clear, sunny and in the 80's today!!  This sure is a great winter so far.  VISIT   FLORIDA!!!  Margie

Key West -   The first photo is the beginning of Highway 1 that goes all the way up the East Coast to Maine .  Photo number 2 is looking at the front of Ernest Hemingway's home.  Photo number 3 is the famous Key West Chicken.  The rooster is a descendant from fighting roosters that were turned loose when cock fighting was outlawed in Key west.  They are now protected and roam fee around Key West.   It is against the law to kill one.

     I will be on vacation next week.  Mr. Barbee will be holding down the fort.  I am going to take a short trip to Key West with my Brother and his wife.  That will be fun.  We had our listing in Lucaya go pending today.  It is a very nice condo.  I have a very nice home for sa;e in Cape Coral in the Country Club area.  It is a nice 2BR/2BA  Pool home.  I wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

    Today is mine and Mr. Barbee's birthday.  Let's just say we are both over 21 and 35 and .....  It is 7 days till Christmas. Are you getting your presents wrapped and your cooking started?  I think I may make some rice crispy treats.  I put peanuts in the mix and then cover them with a light coating of almond bark chocolate.  I then cut it up in small squares.  People seem to really like it.  It has been very humid here for the last few days.  It is sunny and bright and I wish I could be out roaming around.  Having to work can be a pain but I like to eat too much.        I t is 11 days to Christmas and it is to be in high 70's today.  Do you see why I like to live in Florida!  I have been so busy working on this web site and  trying to figure out Windows 8 on the boss' new Toshiba laptop, I haven't had much time to do any Christmas shopping.  I did get my wreath up on my door at home yesterday.  I am getting calls on our listings for showings, so I do know people are seriously looking to buy.  I am optimistic about the coming winter season.  Now if Congress and the President can get their act together maybe things will be brighter in the new year.  VISIT   FLORIDA!!!  Margie

    It is Monday again; 15 day to Christmas.  I played Swiss team bridge yesterday.  I had never played on a Swiss team before and it was different.  Your score is determined on how your table does against other tables.  East and West moves around to other tables, so you are playing with different opponents, but east/west comes back after each round so you can determine your score.  Anyway, for a first time try, I did OK.  I understand the flu is starting early this year so if you haven't gotten your flu shot, be sure to get one.  We got a good rain Saturday.  That will help our water table.  We here at Barbee & Son Realtors wish everyone a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!  VISIT   FLORIDA!!!  Margie

       Yeah, today is Friday.  Mr. Barbee got a new Toshiba laptop computer with Windows 8.  I get to lean what I can about Windows 8 quickly, so I can teach Joe how to use it. I think once one knows how to find different programs, and to move around in the system, we may all like it.  Of course it is new and it is fast.  There is no junk in it to slow it down.  For the last three days, I have been trying to learn how Windows 8 works.  Mostly, by trying to do different things on the computer.  I also, downloaded, Google earth,  Fort Myers MLS site, and his favorites, etc.  We have learned how to play a video and to play a CD.  It has its bases in windows 7 but I had to hunt for the Control Panel, menu bars, and list of programs.  The programs were on the Start Screen all along; I just didn't know how to call them up.  It will help, that I now have an eBook Windows 8 for Dummies, Toshiba.  Well, I am going home and not think about computers alll week-end.      VISIT   FLORIDA!!!  Margie

        I am taking a class at the board  on the new REALEST program.  I checked it out yesterday and it didn't look that different from  the old program.  This one may give us more information.  I will have to see, then maybe I can tell everyone else in the office.  It is still very warm down here.  We could use some rain, but I don't think that is going to happen any time soon.   The New York Giants beat the Washington Redskins last night, Alabama beat Georgia over the week-end.  Now we have to get ready for all the bowl games.  I am going to start watching women's basketball.  Florida's men's team seems to doing pretty good so far.  I have to go to class.   VISIT   FLORIDA!!!  Margie

   Can you believe that it's December already?  It is only 22 days till Christmas!!   It is nother Monday and a new week and a new month.  We are beginning to get seasonal visitors.  The weather up north hasn't gotten real cold yet.  This has been a strange year.  The Mississippi River is getting so low barge traffic is in danger.  I heard on the news that one barge load of grain equals 100 semi truck loads.  It is going to hurt if barge traffic has to stop.  I remember one year they had to go down the Tom Bigbee River down to Mobile.  We have a new listing on Fort Myers Beach.  It is iin Casa Playa Condo/ Resort.      AHHH -  the week-end is almost here.  I have been working on our web site all week and will be glad of the rest.  The  homes sales took a big jump in October.  It is a further indication that the real estate market is recovering.  Now if the congress will get their act together and get rid of all this uncertainty concerning the fiscal cliff, our economy may start to grow faster.  Anyway heres hoping.  My neighbors have been putting their Christmas lights up so I guess I will try to do that this week-end.  Mary wants me to take picture of a condo that the owner just had remodeled.  I will try to get that done this week-end.  I also have an inspection off Old Burntstore Road to do  and I am playing bridge tomorrow all day. There never seems to be enough hours in the day.  It is dark by the time I get home so I really can't do much outside.  I will be glad when the days get longer.  Has anyone been to the Keys lately?  I would love to go to Key Largo and go scuba diving.  I miss doing that.  The coral reefs off the coast of the Keys are a great place to dive and there are plenty of dive shops to choose from that provide dive boats.  Everyone have a great week-end.   VISIT   FLORIDA!!!    Margie

    Mary's Back!!  After being away about a month, Mary Small is back home and says it is nice to be back in her own bed.  It was time to come home to Fort Myers because Chicago was getting COLD.  She and her daughter went on a Mediterranean cruise to celebrate her daughter's retirement from Chicago Police Dept.  Mary said it was a wonderful cruise.   Everyone keep the people in the Northeast dealing with the aftermath of hurricane Sandy in your prayers.  They are just beginning the process; it will take a long time to get back to normal. Our call volume for showings has increased.  I hope they will turn into increased sales.  It is going to be warm and sunny again today.  It is a lovely day for golf.   Come for a visit, and you will see what you're missing.  Can you believe December is one day away?  Well we made it through Thanksgiving without over doing it too much.  I hope all of you did the same.  I finally got all the listings included on the Listing Page.  I am learning little by little how this new system works.  The weather down here right now is great.  The sun is shinning and the temperature is in low 80's.  The only problem I have is it gets dark too early this time of year.  It would seem construction is picking up some.  We are getting new bank construction loan inspections to do.  Our snowbirds are slowing coming back down and or visiting for a week or two.  I meet them all out walking my dog Bridgette.  She has to meet all the new dogs.  Of course the Italian Mastiff was a little too much for her.
